ABOUT
Laurent Marbacher

I help leaders who want to bring about positive change in their world.
Born in Mulhouse, Alsace—a free city for nearly four centuries—I studied at HEC Paris.
I then lived in Chile for four years. With friends and the support of Muhammad Yunus, I launched the first microcredit project there. It was in Santiago that I discovered the ability of ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
Upon returning to Europe in 1991, I worked on strategic initiatives and reengineering projects for large companies.
In 1997, I founded Esprit d’Entreprise.
Since then, I have worked with leaders from a wide variety of organizations (startups, SMEs, mid-sized companies, large corporations, the public sector, government agencies, labor unions, universities, etc.) to help them improve performance by fostering autonomy and accountability among their teams.
One of these companies, the Poult Group, which I began working with in 2005, has been widely recognized for its profound managerial innovation.
In 2003, I also discovered Team Academy in Finland, a business school with revolutionary teaching methods. It was with the Finns that I trained in team coaching, and their inspiration continues to shape my daily practice.
The approach of discernment through purpose is another very important source of inspiration for me. I have applied it to my own life on numerous occasions. Today, I am deepening my understanding of it through my participation in the Institute for Professional Discernment (IDP), of which I am a member. The coaching I offer—whether one-on-one or in a team setting—draws directly from this approach. Of course, I’ve also added my own personal touch to share the fruits of my explorations.
Finally, I love to write. After five years of research, Isaac Getz and I published the book The Altruistic Enterprise in October 2019 with Albin Michel. In it, we show how companies around the world align all their core business activities with the unconditional service of their stakeholders (customers, suppliers, local communities, past and future generations).
In 2025, we published a second book with the American publisher Wiley, titled The Caring Company: How to Shift Business and the Economy for Good.
My motto could be:
“Let’s return to the source of business—the one that springs from the soul.
The one that creates something new.”
I am married, have five children, and live in the Loire Valley.
